Bows and White Handkerchiefs

Sorry that I have been MIA for a while now.  School and track have definitely been keeping me very busy.  So far, we have had 2 conference calls for our Visiting Orphans portion of the trip!  I am beyond excited to see see God's provision already over this entire trip. This week we found out our itinerary, and I'm SO excited.  I can't wait to have my feet be touching the red Ugandan dirt.

One thing that our group has chosen to bring are Bows for the beautiful Ugandan Princesses!   If you watch this video below, our group leader Kari did this on her mission trip to Ethiopia, and it was a huge success.   We would love if you would be willing to make bows and send them to me, so I can take them over to Uganda!

Kari also has a detailed blog post about how exactly to make them and any other questions your could have.  You can check it out my clicking on this link:

because who wouldn't want to crown beauties like these and show them that they are loved by the KING of ALL KINGS?

Also, our group is collecting new white handkerchiefs for a healing therapy at one of the places we will be visiting.  I'll write a blog post on that soon, and share with all of you our schedule for our first 2 weeks in Uganda!  Amani Baby Cottage, the orphanage I'll be staying after the Visting Orphans portion, is also registered at Target, (under Amani Baby Cottage) so if that is convenient for you,  I would be SO blessed.

Thanks again for joining me on this life changing journey and for praying for me.  If any of you have any questions just email me at lsvehla@yahoo.com and I will email that to you.  Please send them to my Nebraska home!  Hope God is moving mountains and leading you through life.  Praise always to my rock and KING.

Praise the Lord, for He is GOOD!

About two weeks ago a sweet American couple traveled to Russia to bring their little boy, Kirill, home.  After being questioned for 5 HOURS by a judge about their efforts to adopt him, she ruled that they could not bring their little boy home.  Do you want to know her reasons for that???  Because Kirill is “socially unacceptable” because of his “medical condition” (Down Syndrome!), and would be better off in a MENTAL INSTITISION THAN WITH A FAMILY!!!  Oh, my heart!  Do you think THIS little boy belongs in a mental institution???

But this couple is NOT giving up on their little boy!  The have such amazing faith in God and they know he can work miracles to bring Kirill home!  They have filed an appeal, with the backing of all the doctors and social workers that had testified on their behalf at the first court date.  By the end of May, they should have an answer from that judge!  PLEASE PRAY!!!!  God the Father LONGS to see all of His orphaned children with forever families!  HE can bring this boy home!  We must petition Him non-stop, (like the story of the widow and the unjust judge in Luke 18:1-8), on behalf of this little boy, and all “the least of these” like him!  In fact, God has ALREADY moved in the situation of one little girl from Kirill’s region!

Meet Evan.  She is from Kirill’s region in Ukraine, and also has Down Syndrome.

At about 2 o’clock in the morning last night, Evan’s mommy and daddy were across the world in Russia, standing in front of the VERY SAME JUDGE that two weeks earlier had denied Kirill a family.  BUT GUESS WHAT??? God’s people have prayed and fasted, and God has HEARD and RESPONDED because that judge ruled that Evan was ALLOWED TO BE ADOPTED BY HER FOREVER FAMILY!!!  Oh, want to know another amazing thing about this story?? This is the FIRST child to ever be adopted from this region!  There is HOPE for Kirill, too, because God is SOOOO GOOD!  But we MUST PRAY!  Would you please join me in praying that the judge’s heart will be changed by our Almighty Father in regards to Kirill?  Please also pray for strength for his family, and for all the other families trying to pursue difficult adoption!  You can check out Kirill’s family here: http://oureyesopened.blogspot.com/p/kirills-story.html .  You can also support them by joining the “Saving Kirill” group on FaceBook!    So let’s pray to our Father who promised: “I will not leave you as orphans.  I will come to you.” John 14:18!

With Love,
Allison
